There is a built in feature in Notes mail to do this

Hello, Erika. There is a built in feature to do this in current and previous Lotus Notes mail template based mail files. In an 8.5.3 mail template based mail file, go into your mail file preferences which typically would be Actions, More, Preferences when you are in a Mail view. Getting to Preferences could vary slightly depending on the template your mail is using. Once in preferences, go to Mail tab, Signature tab and you will have options to append an .html file automatically to mail messages.
